First day of school

So Today I started back to college and we are feeling the effects of a tropical storm! Its rainy and gloomy and my hair was messed up in five minutes of being outside. That is why I only have two very bad photos to share. Its so windy outside that my schedule flew out of my hands and I had to rush and get a new one so I could get to my beloved American History class.
I love American History and my professor seems to be a nice guy with a lot of knowledge so I know it will be fun. I also have abnormal psychology which will be very interesting because it's all about disorders! (My favorite!) I decided to come on very strong for the first day with my suede vintage cape and vintage dress/ gloves. I love this outfit and I had been looking for an excuse to wear the cape for a year now. Well, I have to go do a history quiz and get ready for my math class. Hopefully this rain stops for a bit. xoxo, Amber.

cat dress and knee highs

So this is my cat dress from modcloth that I loved at first sight and bought immediately. After I got it and wore it I received a lot of compliments... everyone loved my "adorable COW print dress" Yeah, everyone thought my cats were cows. I still love this dress though, because I love anything with a crazy print and peter pan collar. I also love knee high socks and I thought everyone else did too, but my mom hates them. She also hates saddle shoes and light blue cats eye glasses (which all sound amazing to me!) because she had to wear them as a kid. I think she was pretty lucky.
So today my favorite shoes died. RIP black suede t- strap flats! My sister borrowed you without asking and ran you through the mud and left you in the car to rot. You never got to see these wonderful shoes but they were the shoes of my dreams. I am very upset! But I ordered two pairs of similar ones, not as cute but they will have to do.

Lazy Thursday

Well apparently there is a hurricane coming toward Florida... Although they say this all the time and it's usually just rain. I spent the day trying to get my books for college on Monday but if the hurricane comes then it will probably be canceled for a day! I also went to Target to get my boyfriend his new glasses. They are very cute Ray-Bans and now I think I may get a pair. Either that or cat's eye vintage ones. I picked up some knee highs while I was there (black and white) so I'm ready for colder weather.
I'm just borrowing these shoes from my sister but I love them! I love anything white and lacy though. Well I'm gonna go back to watching Hell on Wheels. I'm hooked on it!

1940s dress and gloves

Well I cut my bangs! They aren't exactly bettie bangs but they are shorter and look better with vintage hair styles (If I can figure a vintage hairstyle out!) I'm sorry for my absence...I'm getting ready to start a new semester at college on Monday and I'm kind of stressing about it. I've also been completely engrossed in the book "Valley of the Dolls" It is just so good.
I got this dress on etsy and it has been getting terribly worn with each wear. I think its about time to retire it :( It has rips in places I can't fix because my skill as a seamstress is little to none.
I won my ebay bidding war for the vintage gloves! I'm so happy with them. I will probably be selling half of them so if anyone wants some I'll be putting the links up soon. Xoxo, Amber.

Leather and lace

We had to use my phone for pictures again today! But tomorrow I will break out my camera and get some better quality shots in. Excuse the location as well. We took these in my boyfriend's hunting lodge themed room. I love this dress because it looks good when I toughen it up. I found this awesome tommy gun belt buckle at a gun show I went to with my boyfriend. I love cool belt buckles...I have an eagle one too. These boots were from the Dolce Vita collection at Target a year ago and they are just awesome. They always make me feel like a bad a$$ hahaha.
Well I'm going to get some reading done. I'm rereading the Hobbit again because it's coming out soon!! xoxo, Amber

Bleu Berry

These photos are obviously terrible quality and that's because I had to take them from my phone. I lost my photographer for today so I had to make due. These pictures don't do the gorgeous dress any justice at all. It has tiny white polka dots and a sweetheart neckline. It is just perfect and makes me feel like a princess!
I got it from a shop that was going out of business. Unfortunately, the name of it has slipped my mind, but it's out of business so I guess it's not too important.
Today I went to the flea market and I usually have a lot of luck finding things there but today was not my day. Last time I found two robin's egg blue Samsonite suitcases. I just love vintage Samsonite. After that, I went to Goodwill and found a very ugly dress to transform into my costume for next weekend. I'm going to Star Wars Celebration in Orlando and I'm going to be Princess Leia on Endor. Yes, I'm kind of a nerd, But not a super nerd. I just really love Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings. I also love cats, vintage clothes, and Gone with the Wind. Those are most of my obsessions, so there ya go!
Well I'm gonna try to get rid of this migraine. If any of you have natural remedies for migraines please let me know. Xoxo, Amber.

Cats for shoes

I'm very disappointed with the weather today. It looked like a perfect day to make a video so I woke up, got ready and headed over to my boyfriend's house to get started. We planned out a super awesome location and just as we decided to leave, the sky turned black. We had to hurry up and get outfit photos! It ended up storming heavily for several hours so we were confined to the house. Such a bummer. But tomorrow we are going to do the video and it will be even more spectacular than originally planned because we have a video editing program! I don't know anything about photography or filming but I heard that it is a good program.

Moving on to my outfit...This dress is one I had been lusting over on Modcloth. It was too expensive for this thrifty girl so I waited patiently and when it went on sale I snatched it up. That's always the story with Modcloth. I see beautiful dresses and I wait for them. I usually pair this dress with winter wear but as it's still +90 degrees outside, I decided to break it out early. Speaking of winter wear, I am in the middle of a fierce bidding war on Ebay for a lot of 1940s gloves. I just wanted to express my anger when I am outbid! Those other folks are lucky that Ebay was smart enough to block usernames because you can bet I would harass that other bidder to no end. I have already pictured the outfits I would make with these gloves so I cannot lose them now. End of crazy rant.
Oh, my shoes, my shoes! They are the cutest pair of shoes in all the land! I adore those precious kitty faces. Just ask anyone who knows about my shopping habits and they will tell you that if there's a cat on it I will buy it. I can't resist, It's madness really. I found them on etsy on a cute little shop called Em and Sprout. They are very comfy too, not that it matters to me because I always put fashion first. They also have shoes that are foxes, which are another one of my favorite animals, so I may just have to purchase those too.
So I hope you will tune in to my video tomorrow. We will be doing it rain or shine since I have a lovely umbrella. Have a good night! xoxo, Amber

Night moves

Please excuse the quality of the pictures. It was storming all day and we couldn't get pictures until after dark. I wanted to wear some rainy day clothes but I just love dressing in inappropriate wear for the weather. When its cold I like to wear short dresses, and when its hot I long to wear tights and a sweater. I'm never prepared for these weather situations.

This is probably my favorite dress, although I say that about most of my dresses. I love gingham print so much. I always have to stop myself from buying dresses that look like this one. I found it when I was in Ann Arbor Michigan last summer. It was in a strange consignment shop where most of the clothes were not my taste. I'm so glad I rescued it! I definitely need a petticoat for this one to really make me look like a crazy girl. I also got these shoes last summer while traveling. They were in a consignment shop in Oklahoma. I found this beautiful pearl hat from the 1950s along with some rabbit fur hats at an estate sale. I will be wearing the other ones when it gets cool outside.
(That's not a stain by the way, I got too close to the wet plants.)

I got a lot of smiles from people today while wearing this outfit. I think people like to see others dress up even if they don't feel comfortable enough to do it themselves. In other news, tomorrow is our next youtube video premiere! I hope you will check it out and subscribe! Well I have to get back to watching the twilight zone. Is it weird that I find Rod Serling attractive? My grandma went to high school with him! Okay, I'm rambling now... Goodnight! xoxo, Amber

Rosey Posey

Today was quite uneventful, although I'm excited to be caught up on True Blood!
I love this half shirt and it was so cheap. I was looking up estate sales on craigslist and I found a vintage store going out of business so of course I had to check it out!
It looked like heaven in there...so many cool knick knacks.
I wanted a tv from the 1950s but sadly I had no room.
I did find this awesome shirt (I love the flower!) and a purse from the 40s for 20 bucks together.
 It was a great day.
I hope everyone had a good start of the week! xoxo, Amber

Indian summer

Hi everyone! Today was sort of a lazy Sunday. I sat around with my boyfriend and watched movies and documentaries. We are watching one now about the history of pinball. I found out that pinball was actually banned during the depression! It's pretty cool since we went last weekend to a pinball tournament and I played for the first time. I really liked it!
This dress is so comfy for a hot summer day. I love dresses with cut outs like this one.
I decided to wear my mocassins today because I haven't given them love for quite a while. I love Native American as you may have noticed with my turquoise jewelry.
You also may have noticed my new hair accessory...It's a fox! If you want to get one yourself the link is below. Sea of Bees has so many unique and precious accessories. I wish I could have them all! I love forest animals so much haha. Well I'm gonna go finish this documentary so goodnight. xoxo, Amber.

Red, white, and blues

Today my boyfriend suggested that we explore the abandoned Sonic restaurant near us. I decided to go with a retro country look for the excursion. I had been searching for high waisted shorts for years and could never find the right fit or the right price. I finally found these at Papaya for 20 bucks and had to have them. Shorts are a must for the Florida summer so I am happy to own these. In other news, I plan to drive down to Tampa in the next few days for some much needed thrifting. This will be my first long trip with my new mustang, I can't wait! I am also debating on trying some long bettie bangs. If anyone would like a say on this please feel free to leave a comment! Thanks for reading. xoxo

Beret and blooms

It was a dark and stormy day...
The sky looked apocalyptic this morning and my poor cats were so scared. My cat named Eagle was shaking with fright so I had to play him some music to calm him down. Poor baby.
I decided to lighten my mood with my favorite floral dress. I love the fit of this dress, it's just so flattering with the slightly dropped waist. The skirt flows out at just the right spot! I love adding vintage items to my new outfits. I found this beret in my mother's closet a while ago and she let me keep it. I have an ever growing collection of unique vintage hats. Perhaps i'll share them with you guys at some point. Thanks for reading! xoxo

Scotland Yard

So this is my very first outfit post! I've been wanting to start a blog for a while now since I began selling vintage clothes on etsy and following other fashion blogs. I love mixing vintage clothes with new things I find. I start my second year of college at the end of the month so I wanted to find a leather satchel online that I could match with my 1940s and 50s day dresses as well as my winter coats, though it never gets very cold here in Florida :(. I ended up going to target and finding this plaid backpack that I could not leave behind. I think it will look great with most of my outfits. It reminded me of a Scottish kilt so I matched it with my Scottie dog socks and brogues. This is a dress that I can make a ton of different looks with, so you will surely be seeing it again! My friend made a video post of my outfit on Youtube. (Please excuse my nervousness, I didn't realize I was so bad at speaking on a mic!) You can check it out at http://www.youtube.com/kittykatVTG
